The father of O'Grady is Jim O'Grady. Her mother, Jan, was a financial planner. Her parents raised her within Wheaton (Illinois) and she was a graduate of North High School of Wheaton. The model was featured in several commercials before making the move in Los Angeles in 1986. The first time she worked, O'Grady was a Montgomery Ward model, where she also appeared in a variety of commercials.
